So I was notified Friday morning that a band I love would be in Phoenix on Saturday. I looked to see if tickets were available and all I got was last row of the balcony in the Dodge Theater which is a large arena. After hemming and hawing for about an hour I decided it might still be fun to go. Well all I can say is my indecisiveness paid off! In that hour the reserved seats opened up and we got 5th row seats to the Barenaked Ladies! The show was absolutely amazing and from that close we could see every detail of their facial expressions for each song, Ed’s tattoos, the red monkeys thrown on stage, etc! That was an incredible show! I am so glad I made the decision for us to go!

Apparently Jessica is statistically the 61st most popular first name. I thought it would be higher!

Right now it is less then 40 degrees in Tucson and it is 54 degrees in Altamont NY! Its 13 and feels below 0 in Northern AZ. Its 64 degrees in Rochester! It is 72 degrees in Austin so the weather isn't completely backwards!
I am finally getting my chilly November!

There are people you meet in your life that will make you laugh, those that will make you cry, those you are willing to cry in front of, those that will make you angry and those that will make you happy just to being around them. There are people we meet that will understand us better then we know ourselves. What if you find all the above wrapped in person? What do you do after you push such a person away? What if the person was in denial about how much you hurt them?
Maybe the best way to heal starts with a 4 hour conversation that neither person thought would happen. Maybe it’s a mistake. But why worry? You survived so much else together.
There were tears and laughs. A lot of wounds and ghosts revisited but there was no fighting.
Maybe just maybe it will be alright.

Tonight was a blast. We went to Nightmare on Congress down at club congress and the Rialto. Not all the bands were great but the people and costumes more then made up for it. Everyone always dresses up to be either scary or sexy for Halloween so I had to go as the nerd! As Colin would put it I went from nerd to biker chick to human canvas all in one night. I forgot how fun sharpie could be. Unfortunately I could not fix the mess I had made on his arm but he made mine into art. Pictures should be forth coming soon.
So I may have put myself into a problematic situation again. I think I’ll let it all be for now. I want to see what happens. This will have to be a separate entry.

So I know I never update but I have been so busy lately. Last weekend I went to Rocky Point in Mexico and it so nice and relaxing! Sandy beach was great and the water was so warm. I expected it to be the same as the cold Atlantic which wouldn’t have stopped me from going swimming anyway. We decided not to dive but that’s alright. The food we got was tasty (though I still wouldn’t drink the water) and the hotel right on the beach was great and it was all so cheap. Shopping/haggling was interesting as always but I have a beautiful addition to my house! The haggling continued at the antique stores in Tucson last week. I love the things I got (even though someone else found them first) and the art I got! Perhaps some pictures to come.
I just got back from Vegas tonight. I took Monday and Tuesday off of work so it was a full five day weekend! We stopped at Hoover dam on the way back which was an engineering marvel especially for the time! The only federal project I know to be completed ahead of schedule and under budget!
Vegas was Vegas. The wedding was beautiful and it was so nice to see the girls again. I haven’t seen all three since Jessica’s high school graduation which was before mine. And as they say what happens in Vegas stay’s in Vegas!!!!
Perhaps more later!

It’s been a whirl wind few weeks here. Work has been interesting but long lately. The extra hours are taking a toll but I have been able to take the time I wanted when J. came to visit. It was so awesome having him here for a week. It was so much fun going kayaking, to the Grand Canyon and making garbage plates like we use to have in Rochester without the grease! Even the traffic jam was interesting and quite entertaining with him. Reminiscing was also a lot of fun. I can’t believe how well he remembers everything. All I can say is the week was to short.

What a week. I didn’t go kayaking last weekend like I had planned. I skipped salsa dancing with my friends and I skipped my lesson. I had been doing/going every week to all the above but I was just too tired. I didn’t bother going into work till 9 since I need the sleep and it really put me into a more relaxed mood then I have been in all week. Tomorrow I’ll head up to Prescott for another long weekend full of rest and relaxation. I really love it up there!
On a different note I got quite upset/worked up about HH tonight. How could they pick such a places that they have to know is controversial. I might bitch about this later since I don’t think this should be “swept under the rug” but now it’s time for bed.

I just spent the nice 4 day long weekend in Prescott kayaking and sleeping. Who says there’s no water in AZ! I know where I will be almost every weekend.
Time for this tired gal to go to bed.

Dear east coast friends,
Please remember AZ is 3 hrs behind you. I think 7 am is a tad early to call in the morning anyway but that makes it 4 AM here! AZ does not observe daylight savings time so for half the year it’s 3 hrs and the other half is 2 hrs. I have not appreciated being woken up between 4 and 5 am (typically closer to 4) 3 times in one week, especially on a Friday off! I will continue to try to be “pleasant” on the phone but if you have a normal 8-5 type job please do not call on your way to work. I do miss you guys too but I need my beauty sleep.
Thanks, Sleepy

So I know I never write in this anymore but the last few months have been so crazy! First my big news, I bought an absolutely amazing house 2 months ago and I am loving it. It’s hard for me to think I have been in my house for over a month. I have really enjoyed setting it up the way I want to and decorating it in my own way. It is a lot more house then I need which made it perfect when the Dodges and my parents were all here. I will eventually convert the third bedroom into an office, but I prefer the couch and laptop method right now. This weekend we finally did the things I have been putting off since I moved in like fixing the irrigation system. I am surprised I haven’t killed my roses and other plants but now I can be even lazier! Visitors are truly welcome any time. I also have a pseudo pet. The kitty really likes being in my backyard when I am there but doesn’t like that I won’t bring her in with me. She is so cute when she follows me around.
I am actually really enjoying AZ; otherwise I wouldn’t have bought the house. Things have real come together here. My job is going really well and my managers and team leaders have been really impressed with my work. I already got my first unexpected raise and I have been told to expect a promotion in the next few months. Damn paper work! I know college was rough and I was almost always stressed but I can honestly say the hard work has paid off. Plus here I don’t have to deal with the immaturity that caused a lot of my stress in the last yrs of college. I also just took my final on Monday. I am looking forward to getting my masters.
On a sadder note, Brandon is going to Seattle for the job. The job sounded too good to be true but I don’t think I could have passed up that opportunity either. I know what it’s like to pickup and start completely over. He really appreciated my candor, then again that is what I am know for here. Our friendship started over a comedy of errors that I will never forget! He will be missed but I wish him the best.

What a night! I think I just had the best Valentines Day every! So typically I hate this day and am very cynical about it. I do believe you should show your feeling through out the year and not need one day with all the pressure. I will admit I have never had a good Valentines Day while in a relationship. With little to no expectations, these days always sucked in a relationship and it hard to believe people can screw up even w hen there are extremely little expectations.
So this morning I didn’t know what to expect. I had started calling people on Sunday to figure out the anti-valentines day festivities. It is funny to me that the only plan was to meet at a friend’s house at 6 and we would go to dinner, the two us which sorta defeated the purpose of anti-v-day. My cell phone started ringing and them everything just fell together. All I had was the restaurant and I managed to bring people who barely know each other and probably make them potentially really good friends. The five of us had such a good time and were probably the loudest table at the restaurant (but we were not obnoxious) then back to Erin’s to hangout, drink, play games then a movie. I am so glad Erin came tonight, otherwise I would have been the only girl and I got to find out that Erin and I are so similar that we really clicked tonight. If today was a weekend we would have stayed up so late and had a great time till the sun came up or we passed out! Laughter really is so much better then love!

My sleeping schedule is so off right now. I guess that’s what I get for staying out really late Friday and Saturday but getting up at the same time I normally do during the week for work. Found out today that my couches are dangerous since I only meant to nap for 30 minutes after lunch today but woke up 3.5 hrs later! Oh well, the weekend was a blast and so worth dragging on Monday, I mean today. Met a lot of interesting people this weekend and continued giving my buddies a hard time for the stupidity and lack of certain sporting skills from last weekend. But they dished it out to me too and I justly deserved it. Must become more athletic and coordinated!
Will try to write more sometime about what I have been up to and life in general since I know I haven’t done that since I came to AZ or even did any meaningful entries for a long time before that.

So today was the first Super Bowl that I have not watched in over 5 years. Instead I watched a show on Flight 93 that I had record about a week ago. It’s been 4.5 years since the disaster and yet I can still remember that day so clearly and the friends that were effected so horrifically by it. I saw ground zero when I was last in NYC and it was strange. Such open space and so many people there. I took pictures yet I am not sure how I felt about that. Have we turned terrorism into tourism? I am not going to go into anymore cynicism tonight. I can’t believe in a few months it will be the 5th yr anniversary of the disaster. I miss NY. I will be a New Yorker till the day I die no matter how long I am away. This also really got me thinking about my family. I have stayed in contact with them more in the last few months but I think I would like to fly my sister and her family out. I don’t see them enough especially now.
I don’t stay grounded very much and I am not sure I will be very comfortable on my next flight.

Started off taking a vacation on Monday and went to a BNL concert, finally! Two year wait but it finally happened and I resisted the urge to call anyone and leave a crappy recording on their VM like they did to me! Even though I took off Monday, I still managed to have forty hours in by 9:30am on Friday. It’s sick how much I worked last week. I love taking it all in stride, not becoming a workaholic and still impressing my team lead and others that count! I really did mean to go in this weekend to finish some work that went on the back burning when some other things came up but bumming around the apartment by myself won and it was so nice. I think I’ll use some flex time and just take most of Wednesday off before I head up to Phoenix to catch a plane and see some friends.
Still need to find a gift for my mother, otherwise I took care of everyone else. It is so hard shopping for people when it’s in the 70’s outside and a gorgeous day. I didn’t bother to decorate this year since I never fell into the “Christmas mood.” Shopping for some people only reminds me how much a hate this time of the year since you are socially obligated to buy gifts. Call me a scrooge if you want but what are you suppose to do for people that have everything and gift cards would not be acceptable. And I am so sick of the bath stuff that I always get from my sister in-law and never ever use. I like shopping for birthdays and at random times when there isn’t the pressure or all the people. I am glad work doesn’t do secret santa, but the three or four holiday parties were actually a blast. Not sure if one was really a holiday party since it was at the beginning of the month.
Redecorated today and hung a bunch of pictures and posters. I really meant to do put away laundry that I did a week ago and start thinking about packing. Have so much to do before Tuesday night so I can load my car and be set. Hope I don’t work to long tomorrow so I can actually do the other stuff.
I am so excited to be heading back to NY in a few days. Don’t get me wrong, the weather here is gorgeous but I do miss the snow!

So I made my first Thanksgiving dinner tonight! Dinner was such a success and of course there is so much food left over. My first turkey came out so well! It was very moist and barely any gravy was needed except for more flavor. Nothing burnt and everything was tasty. It was also so nice to sit out side in shorts drinking wine and watching the stars!

So I finished the course with the cranky old British teacher. He has the typical dry sense of humor and not sure how he took my comments in the class when he made fun of me for being cold! Grr I certainly won’t miss him! The only class I can honestly say I took a nice long nap during!!!!
Quotes from the class: Bacon is my favorite vegetable. Binary is only 1’s and 0’s?
Must update with better quotes when I find my notebook.

I am trying to plan my NY trip around Christmas time. I figured I would be in Albany and Rochester and maybe the city for a few days. Let me know if you will be in town and want to see me because if I got no response then I will make it a shorter trip and/or only include Albany. Easiest way to contact me is still gmail or my phone. Please remember the 3 hr time difference!
